Omar Abdullah inspects construction of new Jammu and Kashmir assembly complex

The ₹208.53 crore project is expected to be finished by October 2027 and may host the 2028 budget session.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inspected the under-construction Legislative Assembly complex in Jammu on Tuesday, according to reports by Daily Excelsior and Outlook. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Additional Chief Secretary (Public Works Department) Anil Kumar Singh, and other officials.

The inspection took place at the site near the Civil Secretariat, where Abdullah viewed the halls, rooms, and various facilities. He reviewed the construction progress and instructed senior officials to complete the project on schedule.

The ₹208.53 crore project is slated for completion by October 2027. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary told reporters that the 2028 budget session and the subsequent budget presentation could take place in the new building.

Choudhary stated that the new complex is intended to offer improved facilities and more comfortable seating for media personnel. He noted that journalists frequently encounter difficulties while covering proceedings at the current premises.

The Deputy Chief Minister requested that the public wait until next year for the project to reach completion.
