Subhash Shirodkar says Deepak Dhavalikar will face second defeat in Shiroda
Water resources minister Subhash Shirodkar expressed confidence in winning the Shiroda constituency against MGP president Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar in 2027.
Water resources minister Subhash Shirodkar said on Tuesday that if MGP president Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar contests the 2027 assembly elections from the Shiroda constituency, Dhavalikar will face a second defeat.
According to The Times of India, Dhavalikar confirmed his intention to contest from Shiroda following an MGP general body meeting held last Saturday.
Shirodkar stated that he is well set with his workers and expects a 100 per cent victory. He noted that Dhavalikar experienced defeat in the 2019 byelections.
In the 2019 Shiroda bypoll, Shirodkar won the seat as a BJP candidate by defeating Dhavalikar by a margin of 66 votes. Dhavalikar lost the 2022 assembly elections from Priol to BJP candidate Govind Gaude.
With MGP currently an alliance partner of the BJP government in the state, Shiroda is expected to be a contentious constituency during seat-sharing negotiations between the two parties.
