Palaniswami criticises Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government over onion procurement
The AIADMK leader alleged that onions have been rotting at a Korrukkupet warehouse due to delays in unloading lorries.
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami criticised the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam-led government on Tuesday for its handling of onion procurement, according to The Hindu.
In a social media post, Palaniswami claimed the administration has been lethargic regarding the essential commodity. He noted reports that onions have been rotting at a warehouse in Korrukkupet because unloading from lorries has been delayed for the last three days.
The State government stated it did not accept 450 tonnes of onions from the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) due to poor quality. However, NAFED contended that it has not yet received the returned consignment.
Palaniswami argued that the people of the State are the ones suffering in this process. He urged the government to manage price control measures with caution.
