Siddaramaiah meets Rahul Gandhi amid sting operation controversy

The former Karnataka Chief Minister met the Leader of Opposition in New Delhi following allegations regarding a purported sting video.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Sunday, according to The New Indian Express. The meeting took place at the residence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge for approximately 15 minutes.

The two leaders did not hold a one-on-one meeting, according to sources. Rahul Gandhi has reportedly given Siddaramaiah an appointment for Monday to discuss the sting operation controversy and its political implications in detail.

The controversy involves a purported sting video filmed in 2023 and recently broadcast by some local television channels. The video relates to discussions about unverified incidents from 2011 when Siddaramaiah was the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.

In Bengaluru, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar declined to comment when asked by reporters about the alleged sting operation or whether a mobile phone exchange occurred at the residence of Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Shivakumar did not respond to the questions and walked away.

Siddaramaiah also met Kharge and interacted with leaders of the INDIA bloc. Earlier on Sunday, he participated in Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at Karnataka Bhavan, where he paid floral tributes to the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari.
