BJP leads Democracy Protection March in Thiruvananthapuram to counter opposition

Party leaders accused the Congress and CPI(M) of running a misinformation campaign and stoking anarchy to undermine constitutional institutions.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a 'Democracy Protection March' in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, according to ANI. The march was led by senior leaders including Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje, former Union Minister V Muraleedharan, and Kummanam Rajasekharan.

Addressing the gathering, Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused Congress and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of engaging in fraudulent politics and double standards regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Chandrasekhar stated that the BJP and NDA workers are responding to these politics and asserted that the BJP protects Indian democracy under Narendra Modi.

Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje remarked that leadership cannot be secured by boycotting Parliamentary discussions or seeking approval abroad. She alleged that Rahul Gandhi is creating anarchy on the streets of Delhi instead of discussing issues in Parliament.

Senior leader V Muraleedharan criticised the opposition for bypassing parliamentary processes, noting that constitutional methods like no-confidence motions exist. Former Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan said the march was organised to counter a misinformation campaign by the Congress and CPI(M) intended to trigger lawlessness.

BJP State General Secretary Anoop Antony Joseph told ANI that the party is sending a message that power must be won through democratic means rather than intimidation. Joseph added that the party will organise several more protest rallies and marches across Kerala in the coming days.
