Qualcomm shares in focus ahead of fourth-quarter earnings announcement
Investors are monitoring the semiconductor firm's revenue and growth outlook amid rising costs and competition.
Qualcomm is expected to release its fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results after the US stock market closes on Wednesday, November 4, according to a report by Mint. The semiconductor manufacturer faces scrutiny over revenue, earnings, and management commentary as it deals with rising component costs and artificial intelligence spending concerns.
Wall Street analysts expect the company to report revenue of approximately $10.15 billion and adjusted earnings of $2.16 per share. These estimates suggest year-over-year declines of nearly 10 per cent in revenue and 28 per cent in adjusted earnings, which reflects softer smartphone demand and higher manufacturing costs.
The company's handset business has seen fluctuating growth, with revenue falling to $5.1 billion in the June quarter. Additionally, Apple's move to develop its own cellular modem technology is creating challenges, as Qualcomm management previously indicated that its modem supply share for upcoming iPhones would be lower than expected.
Despite these pressures, Qualcomm has secured a multi-year agreement with SpaceX to supply equipment for the Starlink Mobile 5G network in the US. The company described the deal as its largest 5G agreement to date, with installations for the terrestrial network expected to begin in 2027.
