ED searches locations in APPSC Group-I evaluation case
The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at seven premises in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh regarding alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at seven locations in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Guntur district on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, according to The Hindu. The raids are part of a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities during the evaluation of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group-I Mains examination answer scripts.
The searches included the residence of retired IPS officer P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu, who served as the APPSC Secretary during the recruitment. The ED also searched the residence of P.
Madhusudhan Rao, owner of CamSign Media Private Limited, and premises linked to Akella Peri Srinivasa Rao of TruGrader Services, a division of Stone Media Advisory Services Pvt. Ltd., and Mahamkali Raghuram.
The ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, following a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. The SIT found that answer scripts were shifted from the APPSC office to Haailand Resorts in Guntur district, where they were allegedly evaluated by 66 unqualified persons, including data entry operators and security guards, over 84 days.
The investigation involves allegations that ₹1,14,32,312 in public funds was misused. The SIT report also claimed that duplicate OMR sheets were printed using candidate barcode numbers and that signatures were forged.
Anjaneyulu's defence has maintained that the decision for manual evaluation was taken collectively to comply with High Court directions and that the resort was chosen for security and logistical reasons. The allegations remain under investigation.
