BAMUL revises retail prices for Nandini ghee, butter and paneer in Karnataka

The price revision for several dairy products took effect on November 4, following recent hikes for milk and curd.

The Bengaluru Milk Union (BAMUL) has updated the retail prices for Nandini ghee, butter, paneer and Trupti milk, according to reports by Deccan Chronicle and ThePrint. The new rates became effective from November 4.

This adjustment follows a recent increase by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), which raised the price of Nandini milk by Rs 8 per litre and curd by Rs 14 per litre. The Federal noted that this is the second significant price increase for these products after a 10 per cent rise earlier this year.

Under the new pricing, a 1-litre sachet of Nandini ghee will cost Rs 850, up from Rs 715. Ghee in 50 ml PET jars is priced at Rs 65, while a 15-kg tin costs Rs 14,100. For butter, salted 100-gram packs are Rs 90, while 500-gram unsalted packs are Rs 390.

Paneer prices have also changed, with a 1-kg pack now retailing at Rs 485, compared to the previous price of Rs 408. Trupti milk is priced at Rs 11 for 135 ml and Rs 33 for 450 ml.

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that the milk price increase is intended to support approximately 11 lakh farming families in the state. He suggested the hike could encourage milk supplies to be diverted back to Karnataka rather than to other states.
