The state government cautioned job seekers against unauthorised agents and training institutes promising overseas employment that leads to military service.
The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday issued a warning to job seekers and students regarding fraudulent agents and private training institutes. According to reports from The New Indian Express and Telangana Today, these entities are luring individuals with promises of overseas employment, only to push them into military service in Russia.
The government stated that some agents are particularly targeting unemployed youth from the North Andhra region. These individuals are reportedly promised high salaries and better livelihood prospects, but are subsequently pressured into joining the military or trapped in false legal cases to force their participation in combat operations.
The warning follows reports involving J Vamsi, a man from Visakhapatnam, who travelled to Russia for fruit packing work. Vamsi and four other Indians claimed in a video message that they were promised food-packing jobs but were instead sent to frontline areas near the Russia-Ukraine border. They alleged they were made to sign Russian documents without understanding them and were told they had acquired Russian citizenship.
The state government advised those seeking work abroad to remain vigilant against advertisements promising easy recruitment or quick placements. Officials urged citizens to verify visa details, job contracts, and the legitimacy of recruitment agencies through official channels before travelling.
The government has requested that people report any suspicious job offers or organisations attempting to force military recruitment to the police or relevant authorities.
