Aer Lingus flight diverted to French airbase after bomb alert

An Airbus A320 flying from Dublin to Rome made an emergency landing at Évreux-Fauville Air Base on Thursday.

An Aer Lingus Airbus A320 flight from Dublin to Rome was diverted to the Évreux-Fauville Air Base in France on Thursday following a bomb alert, according to the Times of India.

The aircraft, identified as flight EI402, was carrying 151 passengers and six crew members when the emergency was declared. The plane turned around near Paris and circled the Évreux area before landing, according to Flightradar24 as reported by Bhaskar English.

The office of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed the diversion. All passengers and crew members were reported safe after the aircraft landed at the military installation in Normandy.

Bomb-disposal teams were called to the Évreux-Fauville Air Base, also known as Base Aérienne 105, to inspect the plane. The airbase serves as a French Air and Space Force military transport hub near the town of Évreux.
