Delhi Police inspector transferred twice following ACP suspension and protest

Inspector Arun Kumar has been moved to the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations branch after a confrontation between police and lawyers.

Inspector Arun Kumar has been transferred to the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) branch, according to a Moneycontrol report. This is the second transfer for Kumar, who was previously moved from his post as Shahdara SHO to the Security Unit following a confrontation between Delhi Police personnel and lawyers on October 23.

The transfer order, issued by the Delhi Police headquarters on November 4, comes two days after Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashistha was suspended by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Vashistha, a 2019-batch DANIPS officer, was suspended on November 2 after he was recorded leading a protest outside the force's headquarters.

The protest on November 2 involved around 150 police personnel, including women officers, who demanded the reinstatement of Vashistha and Kumar. The personnel also sought action against lawyers involved in the October 23 confrontation, which involved an assault case involving advocate Lalit Bansal.

The MHA stated that departmental proceedings against Vashistha were contemplated as he led the protest and addressed a gathering at the headquarters. Vashistha responded to the suspension by stating that the action had not dented his courage and expressed faith in a fair inquiry.

A separate order also transferred Inspector Kumar Santosh from the 8th Battalion of the Delhi Armed Police to the Traffic Unit.
