Uday Kotak shares five factors for investors ahead of Samvat 2083
Kotak Mahindra Bank founder Uday Kotak highlighted key market drivers including AI valuations, crude oil prices and interest rate shifts.
As the Indian stock market prepares for the start of Samvat 2083 and the Muhurat Trading session during Diwali 2026, Uday Kotak has identified five key factors for investors to monitor, according to Mint.
Kotak Mahindra Bank founder and Non-Executive Director Uday Kotak noted that while domestic investors have remained resilient despite volatile markets and foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, global economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions persist.
Regarding market valuations, Kotak said India no longer appears as expensive compared to other markets as it did six to twelve months ago following a market correction, noting the country's high-growth potential.
The banker also commented on the artificial intelligence (AI) boom, stating that while AI will reshape the global economy, high levels of debt and investment in the sector have led to areas of significant overvaluation.
Kotak identified higher crude oil prices as a vulnerability due to India's import dependence and predicted that the overnight repo rate could rise by 50 to 75 basis points from current levels.
He advised investors to focus on quality companies and medium-term strategies, suggesting that derivatives traders maintain sufficient financial capacity to handle market volatility.
