Telangana to hold Diwali celebrations in Indiramma houses on Sunday
Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that officials and elected representatives will visit beneficiaries living in newly completed homes.
The Telangana government will hold Diwali celebrations in Indiramma houses this Sunday, according to a report by Urban Acres. Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated at a media conference in Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Wednesday that elected representatives, district collectors, and housing officials will visit families who have occupied homes under the scheme.
Minister Srinivas Reddy said the government has already handed over 2,21,500 houses to beneficiaries. He noted that 1.9 lakh houses sanctioned during the first phase are currently at various stages of construction, out of a total of 4.50 lakh houses in that phase.
The minister revealed that 2.50 lakh houses have been sanctioned under the second phase, along with 1 lakh houses for the Hyderabad Core Urban Region (CURE). He also mentioned plans to expand the Indiramma Towers model to Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Nalgonda, with construction notifications expected before Diwali.
The Indiramma housing scheme is being implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 40,000 crore. To maintain transparency, the minister said financial assistance is credited directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries every Monday.
Srinivas Reddy added that the programme covers rural, urban, and tribal areas. He also stated that Bonalu celebrations will be held from the Hyderabad Indiramma Towers next year.
