Sanjay Kumar Tyagi appointed as new ACB Delhi chief

The 2008 batch IPS officer takes charge after the previous chief was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The office of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi appointed Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Tyagi as the chief of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Thursday, according to The Tribune.

Tyagi, a 2008 batch IPS officer, was previously serving as the Joint Commissioner of Police in Traffic and has also managed the Public Relations department of the force.

The position became vacant following the transfer of the incumbent chief, Joint CP Vikramjit Singh, to Arunachal Pradesh by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The ACB is an investigating agency that functions under the Directorate of Vigilance of the Delhi Government.

The agency is currently investigating several high-profile corruption cases, including alleged irregularities in public infrastructure, prison administration, and government procurement.

Major investigations include an alleged Rs 842-crore medical procurement scam involving hospital supplies and alleged irregularities regarding Delhi Jal Board Sewage Treatment Plant contracts.
