Ludhiana girl sets record for yoga pose on gymnastics beam
Six-year-old Sarah Sangar held a seated wide-legged yoga pose on a raised beam for over 18 minutes.
A six-year-old girl from Ludhiana, Punjab, has earned a place in the India Book of Records for performing a yoga pose on a raised gymnastics balance beam. Sarah Sangar held the seated wide-legged pose, also known as Upavistha Konasana, for 18 minutes and 20 seconds, according to a report by The Times of India.
The record was confirmed on October 3, 2026, when Sangar was 6 years, 9 months and 18 days old. The achievement was recognised under the Young Achievers category of the India Book of Records.
The pose involves sitting with both legs extended outwards in a wide V-shape. While the posture is typically practised on a floor, Sangar performed it on a narrow, elevated gymnastics balance beam.
The feat required a combination of flexibility, body control and concentration to maintain the position on the narrow surface. Sangar was born on December 15, 2019, in Ludhiana.
