California man dies at 97th birthday party after dancing to disco hit

The senior passed away during a Halloween-themed celebration shortly after guests sang Happy Birthday to him.

A 97-year-old man named Vito died during his Halloween-themed 97th birthday celebration in California last week, according to the New York Post. The senior passed away at the party shortly after guests sang Happy Birthday to him.

Footage shared by Los Angeles baker Eden Malinoff on TikTok showed Vito dancing, clapping, and smiling to the Bee Gees' song 'Stayin' Alive' while wearing a black button-down shirt and dress pants. Malinoff, who is 24, said Vito was the life of the party and a member of her friendship group.

Malinoff prepared a red wine chocolate cake for the occasion, noting that Vito had previously told her his secret to a long life was to never drink cheap liquor. She described his passing as a "dramatic exit" and said he lived his life to the fullest until his last moments.

Vito's best friend confirmed the death on social media, stating that the senior had medical issues of unknown severity. The friend said Vito passed away peacefully with his favourite music playing while surrounded by his best friends.

Malinoff said she was grateful to have been part of the celebration of his long and full life.
