Historic Nantucket mansion sells for $15.25 million on October 27

The 6,106-square-foot Greek Revival-style residence more than tripled its 2014 purchase price.

A historic mansion on Nantucket's Main Street, known as the Hadwen-Wright House, was sold for $15.25 million on October 27, according to the Times of India. The 6,106-square-foot property at 94 Main Street was listed for $15.5 million in August.

The residence, which dates back to the 1840s, was purchased by John E. Kozlowski, trustee of the 94 Main Street Nominee Trust, from Nomor LLC. This sale represents a $10.55 million increase over the $4.7 million price paid for the home in October 2014.

Designed by architect Frederick Brown Coleman for whale-oil merchant William Hadwen, the house was completed in 1847. It is part of a pair of neighbouring Greek Revival residences called the Two Greeks.

The property features five bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two domes. It also includes a belvedere with views towards the harbour and a preserved brick-lined cistern that can be viewed through a glass-covered opening.

Previous restoration work included the careful reinstallation of original basement brick flooring and the preservation of original woodwork, fireplaces, and wide-plank pine floors. Much of the interior remains protected under a historic preservation easement.
