KC Current initiative helps 60 young women find designer dresses
The NWSL club collaborated with Nuuly and United Way of Greater Kansas City to donate nearly 100 dresses to local girls.
The Kansas City Current, co-owned by Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, organised a dress donation event for local young women on Tuesday evening, according to The Times of India.
The initiative, held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City Thornberry Unit, allowed 60 middle and high school-aged girls to select from nearly 100 donated designer dresses for homecoming or other celebrations.
Fashion rental company Nuuly supplied the outfits, while United Way of Greater Kansas City arranged for tailors to provide on-site alterations.
KC Current players Hailie Mace, Gabrielle Robinson, and Nichelle Prince attended the event to assist the participants in choosing styles.
Nuuly Executive Director of Marketing and Customer Success Kim Gallagher said the company was pleased to partner with the club and other organisations to help provide a memorable experience that uses clothing to build confidence.
Jason Roth, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, stated the collaboration was about more than receiving clothing, noting it helps build self-esteem and self-expression for the members. Any dresses not selected during the event were kept at the Thornberry Unit for other club members to use.
