Rajasthan Chief Secretary reviews metro expansion and electric buses in Delhi

V Srinivas held 19 meetings with Union Ministers and officials to discuss infrastructure and urban transport projects.

Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas held 19 meetings with Union Ministers and senior Central government officials during a two-day visit to New Delhi, according to NorthBlockSouthBlock. The 1989-batch IAS officer discussed major infrastructure projects, urban transport, and electric bus services to coordinate between the Centre and the state.

During a meeting with Satendra Singh, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Srinivas reviewed the progress of Jaipur Metro projects. This included the 3.80-kilometre Badi Chaupar-Transport Nagar Extension and the proposed 41-kilometre North-South corridor for Jaipur Metro Phase 2. The second phase, which is being implemented by the Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited, is targeted for completion by September 2031.

The discussions also covered the PM-eBus Sewa scheme, which has seen Rajasthan's approved allocation rise to 1,150 electric buses across nine cities. Currently, the state has received 250 electric buses, including 103 for Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL). The Centre has approved more than Rs 60 crore for charging facilities and over Rs 53 crore for civil infrastructure at bus depots.

Srinivas also met Rachna Shah, Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), to discuss administrative matters. He informed officials that urban local bodies in Rajasthan have prepared 100-day action plans following directions from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to improve civic services.
