Romancham opens as open-air cafe in Anna Nagar
The new establishment in Chennai offers Kerala-inspired fusion food and speciality coffee at the former site of Strictly Desserts.
Romancham has opened as an outdoor cafe in Anna Nagar, Chennai, occupying the former premises of the dessert parlour Strictly Desserts, according to The Hindu.
The renovated space features an open-air layout that incorporates the original stone wall and four coconut trees into its decor.
Founder Snehithi Jambulingam said the decision to keep the trees and avoid building walls was made to preserve the identity of the house.
The cafe serves a fusion menu inspired by Kerala, including dishes such as inji puli chicken wings, chicken chukka with puff parathas, and a Kerala manga meen curry bowl.
Anish Nair, who manages the speciality coffee menu, uses beans from five Chennai-based roasters, including Yettu, Eventide, Brun, KWS, and Monsoon Coffee Co.
The menu also includes a dessert bar with homemade ice creams in flavours such as black rice and cardamom, lemon and raspberry, and banana cake.
A meal for two at the cafe costs Rs 1,500.
