The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will deploy 15,659 buses, featuring 9,086 special services, to transport passengers from Chennai to various destinations between November 5 and 7, according to Urban Acres.
Transport Minister A. Vijay Thamizhan Parthiban announced these arrangements following a review meeting in Nandanam to manage the Deepavali rush. For the return journey from November 9 to 10, the corporation will run 11,967 services, which include 6,815 special buses.
Outbound travel will be managed through five locations. The Kilambakkam mofussil terminus will serve Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Sengottai, Tiruchi, Tirunelveli, Salem, Thoothukudi and Coimbatore. A temporary stand near the CMDA climate park will handle Vandavasi and Polur, while Maraimalai Nagar will serve Kumbakonam, Thanjavur and Nagapattinam.
Koyambedu will manage buses for Bengaluru, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Tiruttani and routes via the East Coast Road. Madhavaram will handle regular services to Tiruchi, Salem, Kumbakonam and Tiruvannamalai, alongside services to Andhra Pradesh via Ponneri and Uthukottai.
The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) will provide link buses between Koyambedu and Kilambakkam, with free services connecting Kilambakkam to the Maraimalai Nagar temporary stand. Passengers can book tickets via the TNSTC website, mobile application, or at booking centres located at Kilambakkam, Koyambedu and Madhavaram.
The state has requested Southern Railway to provide extra suburban train services. The minister also advised motorists to avoid the Perungalathur route, suggesting Old Mahabalipuram Road or the Vandalur Outer Ring Road instead.
