Sweet Karam Coffee to launch limited edition Mysore Pak flavours for Deepavali

The Chennai-based brand has collaborated with MasterChef India (Tamil) judge Rakesh Raghunathan to recreate consumer-suggested recipes.

Chennai-based brand Sweet Karam Coffee has partnered with culinary ambassador and MasterChef India (Tamil) judge Rakesh Raghunathan to reimagine Mysore Pak for the Deepavali festival, according to The Hindu.

The brand invited consumers to submit flavour ideas via email, social media, or a Google form. Raghunathan stated that while some suggestions were predictable, such as coconut or mango, others were more unusual, including Korean gochujang.

Five shortlisted flavours will be recreated by Raghunathan, including jackfruit, banana milk, rose pistachio, dark chocolate sea salt, and paan gulkand. The winners of the competition will receive customised boxes containing these varieties.

One winning flavour will be added to the Sweet Karam Coffee product portfolio as a limited edition. Raghunathan noted that while there is a market for modern, innovative sweets, scaling such experimental products remains a challenge.

The traditional Mysore Pak originated in the Mysuru palace during the early 20th century reign of Maharaja Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV. Raghunathan said the sweet was created by royal kitchen chef Kakasura Madappa using besan, sugar, and ghee.
