Vaishnaw vows to uncover conspiracy in Rajasthan railway track blast

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said a joint investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the suspected explosion in Sri Ganganagar.

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday that a joint investigation is underway to uncover the conspiracy behind a suspected blast that damaged a railway track in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district. Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Vaishnaw assured that those responsible for damaging critical infrastructure would be identified and brought to justice, according to ANI.

The suspected explosion occurred on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway line near 50 GB village. The blast reportedly damaged two concrete pillars supporting the track and several railway sleepers, leaving a crater nearly two feet deep. News18 reported the explosion took place approximately 45 minutes after a train travelling from Anupgarh to Suratgarh crossed the stretch at about 9 pm on Wednesday.

Vaishnaw stated that consultations have taken place involving the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police (DGP), and the Chief Secretary. He noted that officials from both the railway and the state administration are conducting the investigation. The minister added that the Rajasthan police will decide whether to involve the National Investigation Agency (NIA) once primary evidence is gathered.

North Western Railway (NWR) Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan told ANI that the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), and other agencies reached the site to investigate. Following the incident, train services between Anupgarh and Suratgarh were cancelled as a precaution.

The investigation involves the ATS, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and a dog squad. Authorities are examining the incident closely as it occurred in a strategically sensitive border district near the India-Pakistan international border.
