Karnataka turn around Ranji Trophy campaign under coach Vinay Kumar
The eight-time champions have secured 16 points in four matches to sit second in Group B after a slow start.
Karnataka has improved its Ranji Trophy season after a shaky start under new head coach R Vinay Kumar, according to the Deccan Herald. The team initially had only two points in two games, placing them just above Tripura on the Group B table.
The side has since secured consecutive bonus-point victories and now holds 16 points from four matches. They currently sit second on points behind Hyderabad, which has 20 points.
While the team has found success, challenges remain regarding the top-order batting technique against new-ball bowlers and a lack of penetration on flat pitches. The team also faced issues with dropped catches in the field.
Spinners have become a pillar of strength for the side. Shikhar Shetty has taken three five-wicket hauls, while Ritesh Bhatkal has provided depth through all-round abilities. Shreyas Gopal also recorded a five-wicket haul against Tripura and a four-wicket haul against Assam.
The emergence of 22-year-old Manvanth Kumar has been a positive, as the Mysuru player has recorded two first-class hundreds and a five-wicket haul. In the batting order, Aneesh K V has scored 357 runs, while Aneeshwar Gautam has recorded a hundred and an 83.
Karnataka has shown improvement even with K L Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, and Smaran R on national duty.
