Tamil Nadu beat Chandigarh by an innings in Ranji Trophy
The victory marks the third consecutive win for Tamil Nadu this season in the Elite Group D fourth-round encounter.
Tamil Nadu defeated Chandigarh by an innings and 260 runs at the Sector-16 Ground in New Chandigarh on Thursday. According to Sportstar, the win was secured in just 47 deliveries on the final morning of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group D fourth-round match.
Left-arm spinner S. Ajith Ram took seven wickets in the second innings, including the final wicket of Jagjit Sandhu. Chandigarh was bowled out for 218 in their second innings after previously scoring 94 in their first.
Tamil Nadu had declared their first innings at 571 for seven.
The win earned Tamil Nadu seven points, including a bonus point, bringing their total to 21. This result represents the team's third straight victory this season.
Captain R. Sai Kishore attributed the success to the team's camaraderie and the freedom provided by the support staff. Head coach Yo Mahesh noted that the team's results stem from collective effort rather than individual performances.
Pradosh Ranjan Paul was named Player of the Match for his double-century. During the presentation, Paul requested that the award be given to his teammate Ajith Ram.
