India-Sri Lanka first ODI moved from Delhi to Visakhapatnam

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the venue change due to potential weather disruptions and proposed stadium renovations.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday that the first One Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka has been shifted from Delhi to Visakhapatnam. According to The Indian Express, the match originally scheduled for December 13 will now take place at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The venue change follows a request from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). The BCCI stated the shift was necessitated by potential weather disruptions and proposed renovation work at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

A senior official from the DDCA told Sportstar that the renovation aims to provide the best infrastructure for players and fans. The official noted that the DDCA is installing a modern drainage facility at the Kotla to ensure play can start within half an hour regardless of rain.

The three-match ODI series will continue with the second match in Bengaluru on December 16 and the third in Ahmedabad on December 19. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2 pm.

The ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20 International (T20I) series. The first T20I is set for December 22 in Rajkot, the second on December 24 in Cuttack, and the third on December 27 in Pune, with all matches starting at 7 pm.
