Prithvi Shaw says India comeback is always at the back of his mind

The Maharashtra opener prefers to focus on the present after Maharashtra defeated Bengal by 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy match.

Batter Prithvi Shaw said on Thursday that a return to the Indian national side is always a thought in the back of his mind, though he prefers to focus on the present.

Shaw, who last played for India in 2021, was speaking to reporters in Kolkata after Maharashtra defeated hosts Bengal by 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy match, according to The Indian Express.

The 26-year-old opener has recorded two half-centuries in seven innings this Ranji Trophy season. His highest score of 70 came against Delhi in Maharashtra's opening match, while his subsequent scores were 7, 21, 0, 17 and 12.

Shaw stated that he does not take tension when he gets out, noting that some innings go well while others go badly. He said his batting is good and nothing is going wrong, adding that it is just a matter of one innings.

Regarding his move from Mumbai to play for the Maharashtra state team last year, Shaw said he is very comfortable and has enjoyed the phase. He noted that Mumbai and Pune are not far apart and he has a good bond with many players.

Shaw also credited the Maharashtra bowlers for the victory on a surface that offered assistance to seamers, noting that the team gained confidence after having Bengal at 25/3 in the second innings.
