Swastik Samal scores 80 as Odisha draw Ranji Trophy match against Jharkhand

Bad weather caused by Cyclone Murasu prevented two innings from being completed at the KIIT Stadium in Bhubaneswar, resulting in a draw.

Odisha and Jharkhand played out a draw in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at the KIIT Stadium in Bhubaneswar, according to Odisha Bytes.

The match was impacted by bad weather due to Cyclone Murasu, which robbed more than a day of play. This marks the second time in two matches that Odisha has been involved in a game where two innings were not completed.

Jharkhand declared their first innings at 433/8 on Day 3. Odisha finished their first innings at 280/7 at the close of play on the final day to ensure Jharkhand did not secure the first-innings lead.

Opener Swastik Samal scored 80 and Anil Parida made 57 to steady the Odisha innings after the team reached 59/3. Rajesh Dhuper remained 39 not out and Lalit Yadav scored 25 not out to prevent Jharkhand from bowling out the side.

Despite the draw, Odisha remains at the bottom of the eight-team group with 2 points from 4 matches. Jharkhand sits in sixth place with 6 points.

Odisha is scheduled to play against Delhi from January 17, 2027, in Cuttack.
