Drivers who cancel confirmed bookings or demand higher fares than app rates could face blacklisting and removal from the airport.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a warning to cab aggregators at Chennai International Airport regarding drivers who cancel confirmed bookings and demand fares higher than those displayed on booking apps, according to The New Indian Express and Mathrubhumi.
The advisory follows passenger complaints about drivers refusing to honour app prices and demanding additional cash payments. One passenger, Martin Louis, reported being asked to pay Rs 750 for a trip that the app priced at Rs 450.
Another passenger alleged that some drivers refused app payments and instead requested money be transferred to personal accounts. A passenger from Bengaluru also reported that drivers ignored app prices and quoted their own rates.
The AAI stated that persistent misconduct could result in drivers being blacklisted or having their permission to operate at the airport withdrawn. The authority will take up complaints directly with the relevant aggregator management teams.
Passengers can report issues at the aggregator counters located at the Cab Pick-up Plaza or the West multi-level car park. If a complaint is not resolved, travellers can escalate the matter via social media or by calling 044-22560551 or 044-22560512.
