Telangana sanctions Rs 88.50 crore for 38 Backward Classes community buildings

The state government has issued orders to fund the construction of Atma Gaurava Bhavans for various caste associations in Hyderabad.

The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has sanctioned Rs 88.50 crore to build Atma Gaurava Bhavans for 38 Backward Classes associations in Hyderabad, according to Siasat.

Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar handed over the official Government Orders to representatives of various caste associations on Thursday, November 5.

Minister Prabhakar said that construction is being accelerated following instructions from Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

The minister explained that previous administrative and technical issues regarding the allocated land have been resolved with help from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

He stated that the government aims to finish the projects within one year or based on the specific needs of each site. He added that the Backward Classes (BC) Welfare Department will conduct monthly reviews of the construction progress.

Addressing rumours, Prabhakar denied claims that the government plans to take back plots assigned to BC associations, calling them assets for weaker sections. He also suggested a five-acre plot in Hyderabad be used for a shared BC Bhavan for all communities.
