Four dead and over 100 injured after two trains collide in Egypt
The collision occurred in the Al-Ayyat district of Giza province when a train rammed into the rear of another passenger train.
At least four people died and over 100 others were injured after two trains collided and derailed in Egypt's Giza province on Sunday, according to Times Now.
The accident took place in the Al-Ayyat district, approximately 52 km south of Cairo, between the Kafr Ammar and Al-Raqqa railway stations near Gerza village.
Egyptian railway authorities said a train travelling from Giza to Fayoum rammed into the rear of a passenger train operating on the Cairo-Aswan route.
The impact caused four passenger carriages to derail. While the Egyptian Health Ministry initially confirmed 64 injuries, local media reports cited figures of 88 and 120 injured people.
Around 50 ambulances were deployed to transport the injured to hospitals in Giza and the Beni Suef governorate, including Al-Wasta and Al-Ayyat hospitals.
The Egyptian National Railways Authority has deployed heavy equipment and cranes to clear the wreckage. Egyptian prosecutors have launched an investigation into the collision.
