ATMED and Anna University sign MoU to boost medical device sector

The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial requirements through internships, research, and technology commercialisation in Tamil Nadu.

The Association of Tamil Nadu Medical Device Industry (ATMED) and Anna University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, according to a press release from The Hindu.

The MoU was exchanged at Anna University on November 3 between Anna University Registrar V. Kumaresan and ATMED President Samuel William George.

The partnership seeks to connect academic knowledge with industrial requirements through student internships, technical training, research, and product development. It also aims to facilitate employment opportunities and technology commercialisation.

Under the agreement, the collaboration will promote joint workshops, seminars, and faculty-industry interactions. Students will also gain opportunities to access the technical infrastructure of Anna University.

ATMED will use its network of member companies to provide mentorship and industrial exposure. The association aims to support the development of skilled professionals and indigenous medical technologies.

Office bearers from ATMED and professors from the Biomedical Engineering Department of Anna University were present during the exchange.
