SP MLA Indrajeet Saroj booked in Kaushambi district

A BJP leader alleged that the Manjhanpur MLA and his supporters tried to attack him while he was travelling to Prayagraj.

Police in Kaushambi district registered an FIR against Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Indrajeet Saroj and hundreds of unidentified supporters on Sunday, according to The Tribune and The Times of India.

The case follows a complaint filed late on Saturday night by BJP leader and Manjhanpur Nagar Palika Parishad chairman Virendra Saroj. He alleged that the MLA and his followers attempted to attack him on Friday around 5 pm near Myohar village.

Virendra Saroj stated that while he was driving to Prayagraj in a private vehicle, his car was intercepted by the MLA and several others, including Vedpal, Shadab, and Shivpujan Yadav. The complainant alleged the group shouted slogans against the BJP, used insults, and tried to kill him.

The BJP leader noted that an official security guard was with him during the incident. The FIR was lodged at the Karari police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including rioting, wrongful restraint, and acts endangering personal safety.

Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapat said that an investigation is currently underway. He added that further legal action will be taken based on the police findings.
