More than 150 people fell ill in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district after eating golgappa from a local vendor, according to Telangana Today. The incident occurred in Kalanakhor Pedari village and two to three neighbouring villages under the Khesraha police station area.
An emergency duty doctor reported that between 30 and 33 patients have been admitted to the Emergency Department. This includes 18 children admitted to the PICU and 15 patients over the age of 15.
The doctor stated that patients experienced vomiting and diarrhoea two days after consuming food and drinks from the vendor. While two or three patients were initially in serious condition, the doctor said they are now stable.
The medical professional noted that more patients are expected to arrive at the hospital via bus. The incident took place during the Diwali festivities.
A similar case of food poisoning was reported in Amethi district last month. In that instance, 102 people fell ill after eating khasta food at a fair in Kotwa village.
