Two men charged in extortion-linked shootings at Kapil Sharma's Canada cafe
Pardeep Singh and Saveer Khan face charges following attacks on a Surrey restaurant and a local residence.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have arrested and charged two 22-year-old men, Pardeep Singh and Saveer Khan, in connection with extortion-related shootings in Surrey, British Columbia. According to reports from The Tribune, Free Press Journal, and Hindustan Times, the arrests took place on November 1.
The charges involve the reckless discharge of a firearm during two separate incidents in October 2025. On October 12, shots were fired at a residence in Surrey, resulting in injuries to a woman. On October 16, unidentified assailants targeted Kap’s Cafe, an eatery owned by comedian Kapil Sharma, marking the third time the establishment had been shot at since opening in July.
The cafe was closed during the October 16 attack, but two employees were inside the premises and escaped unhurt. The British Columbia Provincial Extortion Task Force took over the investigations after identifying potential links between the two shootings.
Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, the Lower Mainland District Operations Officer and Assistant District Commander, stated that the charges resulted from extensive investigative work, including search warrants and evidence analysis. He noted that the legal action serves as a warning to those participating in extortion-related violence that police are working together to protect the public.
Investigators are looking into alleged connections between the accused and the gang of Goldy Dhillon. The Task Force, which was established in September 2025, has secured 28 charges against 14 individuals through its efforts.
