US detains Lawrence Bishnoi aide Harry Boxer in California

Indian agencies are working to extradite the gangster who allegedly managed the criminal syndicate's operations in India from overseas.

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency detained Harichand Jaat, also known as Harry Boxer, in California on Friday. According to reports from The Indian Express, the detention followed alerts from Indian central agencies regarding his location.

Boxer, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is alleged to have managed the gang's operations in India while living abroad. The Rajasthan Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) stated that Boxer entered the US illegally from Mexico via a 'dunki route' after fleeing Guyana.

The 40-year-old resident of Chatarpura village in Rajasthan's Kotputli-Behror district has been linked to several criminal activities. According to ANI, citing Delhi Police sources, he is accused of involvement in extortion, murder, attempted murder, and various firing incidents.

The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said Boxer allegedly claimed responsibility for a shooting at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence in February. He also reportedly issued threats to actor Ranveer Singh and was linked to a shooting at singer Guru Randhawa's gym in West Delhi.

Boxer faces multiple criminal cases across Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. He is also associated with the Randeep Malik gang, according to Delhi Police Special Cell DCP Praveen Tripathi.

Indian agencies are currently coordinating efforts to secure his custody and bring him back to India. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is expected to coordinate with US authorities to facilitate the legal proceedings.
