Jeff Bezos shares Warren Buffett's advice on long-term investing
The Amazon founder noted that Buffett describes his investment approach as a get-rich-slowly scheme during a forum in Miami.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos shared an anecdote about investor Warren Buffett at the America Business Forum in Miami in 2025, according to The Times of India.
Bezos told the audience that he once asked Buffett why more people do not replicate his investment method, given its simple principles.
Buffett reportedly replied that his strategy is a "get-rich-slowly scheme," a concept Bezos said many people do not like.
Bezos explained that thinking in seven-year cycles rather than three-year cycles and deferring gratification can provide a competitive advantage because most people struggle to do so.
Buffett's strategy involves purchasing high-quality businesses at fair prices and maintaining those positions for extended durations rather than predicting market shifts.
Bezos noted that Amazon also utilised a long-term approach, as the company reported its first full-year profit in 2003, six years after its 1997 shareholder letter titled "It's All About the Long Term."
