The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader called for national unity and progress while marking his birthday during the festival.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar Legislative Assembly Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav celebrated Diwali with his family at his Patna residence on Sunday, according to ANI.

Yadav, who is the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, noted that the festival is personally significant because he was born on the day.

Speaking to reporters, Yadav extended greetings to citizens and encouraged people to work together for the development of the nation.

The RJD leader said that the festival is part of their culture and tradition, adding that he hopes for prosperity and health for everyone.

Visuals from the residence showed Yadav and his family members lighting diyas during the celebrations.

Diwali is observed by various communities and coincides with Bandi Chhor Divas, a Sikh festival marking the 1619 release of Guru Hargobind Ji from Gwalior Fort.
