Yogi Adityanath mocks Akhilesh Yadav's PDA slogan in Uttar Pradesh attack

The Chief Minister alleged the Samajwadi Party prioritises family interests over the empowerment of backward and marginalised groups.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday mocked the Samajwadi Party (SP) 'PDA' slogan, claiming it stands for 'Parivar Development Authority' and 'Paraya Dhan Apna'. Speaking at a media conclave, Adityanath alleged that the opposition party's politics centres on a single family instead of supporting backward and marginalised communities.

According to The New Indian Express, Adityanath accused the SP of using social justice rhetoric while concentrating political advantages within a small circle. He claimed the party practices dynastic politics and uses caste calculations rather than focusing on governance.

The Chief Minister contrasted the BJP's welfare model with previous SP administrations, stating that government schemes like housing assistance and health insurance benefit all social groups without discrimination. He also criticised the INDIA bloc for targeting the Chief Election Commissioner and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) following election losses.

Addressing Akhilesh Yadav's confidence regarding the upcoming Assembly elections, Adityanath noted that the SP chief faced a major defeat in 2017 despite similar claims. He suggested a similar outcome would occur this time.

The PDA formula, which stands for Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak, was introduced by Yadav to build a social coalition. The SP won 37 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh during the 2024 elections.
