Restored midcentury modern house in Pasadena listed for $3.25 million

The 2,156-square-foot property was originally built in 1965 for approximately $45,000 and remained in the same family for nearly six decades.

A midcentury modern residence in Pasadena, California, has been listed for $3.25 million following a restoration aimed at preserving its original character, according to the Times of India.

The 2,156-square-foot property, known as the Kubly House, was designed by architect Craig Ellwood for Don and Sally Kubly. Built in 1965 on a 0.6-acre site, the timber structure features large glass walls and a post-and-beam wooden framework.

The house remained with the Kubly family for almost 57 years until it changed hands in 2022. The new owners collaborated with Carl Bronson of Bronstruction to undertake a restoration that upgraded building systems and repaired surfaces while maintaining the architect's vision.

The renovation included installing a new roof, updating electrical systems and air conditioning, and replacing a deck damaged by a fallen tree. The replacement timber was custom milled from a lumber yard in northern Washington.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is being marketed by Chris Suarez and Kimberly Benz of Suarez + Benz at Compass. The property has been identified as eligible for individual listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
