Traffic jams reported in central Delhi during INDIA bloc rally

Heavy traffic and road closures occurred in central Delhi on Sunday due to an opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan.

Traffic movement in several parts of central Delhi, including ITO, faced congestion on Sunday evening during an INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, according to ThePrint.

The rally was organised by opposition parties over alleged vote theft and drew a large number of participants. This led to increased vehicular movement and road restrictions in the area.

The Delhi Traffic Police had issued an advisory for the rally, which was scheduled with restrictions from 10 am to 5 pm. The advisory identified several diversion points, including Rajghat, Delhi Gate, ITO A-Point, and Ajmeri Gate Red Light.

According to The Hindu, traffic movement was likely to be affected on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, and Aruna Asaf Ali Road. The movement of Delhi Transport Corporation buses was also to be regulated on certain stretches depending on traffic conditions.

The police deployed personnel at major intersections and vulnerable points to regulate movement. Commuters were advised to use the Metro or alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel towards Nehru Place and Astha Kunj Park.
