Karnataka aim to build momentum against Assam in Ranji Trophy
Karnataka seeks to carry winning momentum into their Elite Group B fixture at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Karnataka will face Assam in their fourth Elite Group B fixture at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati starting on Monday, according to reports from Deccan Herald and The Hindu.
Karnataka currently holds nine points and sits fourth in the group, while Assam has seven points and is one place behind them.
Shreyas Gopal will lead the side in the absence of R. Smaran. Gopal, who was the third-highest wicket-taker last season, recently took a five-wicket haul against Tripura.
The batting unit has seen contributions from veteran Karun Nair and a young core, including Aneeshwar Gautam, Manvanth Kumar, and K.V. Aneesh. Mayank Agarwal has scored 66 runs from four innings so far this season.
Head coach Vinay Kumar noted that the team could have been more aggressive during their previous game against Tripura. He said the team will discuss their approach to come back as a better side.
The bowling attack has varied based on conditions, previously using three pacers against Saurashtra and a three-pronged spin attack against Tripura. The match is scheduled to run from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to early sunset.
