Second Kodimatha bridge to open on November 10

Public Works Minister P.K. Basheer will inaugurate the ₹15.49 crore structure at 5 p.m. in Kottayam.

The second bridge at Kodimatha along the M.C. Road will open to traffic on November 10, Kottayam legislator and Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan announced.

Public Works Minister P.K. Basheer is scheduled to formally inaugurate the bridge at 5 p.m.

The Public Works Department (PWD) Bridges wing constructed the 128-metre long and 12-metre wide high-level structure at an estimated cost of ₹15.49 crore.

The new bridge aims to resolve traffic congestion caused by the old structure and allows for water transport following M.C. Road modernisation.

Mr. Radhakrishnan stated that opening the bridge before the Sabarimala pilgrimage season will offer massive relief to Ayyappa devotees.

Construction by the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP) began in August 2015 but faced delays due to the relocation of two families living under the existing bridge.
