Telangana CM urges industries and departments to use treated wastewater
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called for using treated water for landscaping and construction to save potable water for domestic use.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked government departments, industries, construction agencies, and commercial establishments to use treated wastewater for various needs, according to The Hindu.
Speaking on the 37th Foundation Day of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), the Chief Minister said using treated water for landscaping and industrial requirements would help conserve potable water for domestic consumption.
Mr. Reddy noted that the rapid growth of Hyderabad has made water security a priority. He suggested that activities not requiring drinking-quality water should utilise treated wastewater to preserve safe drinking water for essential household needs.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the need for active steps to safeguard drinking water sources and manage water resources sustainably due to El Niño weather conditions.
Welcoming the launch of the ‘Dial Green Tanker – Green Tanker Operations’ initiative, Mr. Reddy described it as a timely move for sustainable water management. He requested stakeholders to support the initiative and increase their use of treated water.
Mr. Reddy concluded by asking citizens and stakeholders to view water conservation as a shared duty to help make Hyderabad a water-secure city.
