Mallikarjun Kharge warns CEC at INDIA bloc rally in Delhi

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during a large opposition gathering at Ramlila Maidan.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge spoke at the INDIA bloc 'Chalo Delhi' rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. He stated that the opposition would persist in its protest until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns.

Kharge accused Kumar of supporting the ruling BJP. He also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are trying to manipulate votes from Dalits, young people, and women.

The Congress leader further claimed that PM Modi is attempting to divide the nation and using central agencies, such as the Enforcement Directorate, to intimidate opposition members. He urged supporters to unite to protect the Constitution and democracy.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also criticised Kumar, alleging the Chief Election Commissioner acts as a puppet for the Prime Minister. Yadav compared the political situation to the Mahabharata, claiming the opposition is fighting against electoral manipulation.

The rally included leaders such as Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Hemant Soren, and Revanth Reddy. Supporters carried banners with the slogan 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao'.

Opposition parties are protesting the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision exercise. They allege the process has caused large-scale voter omissions and have demanded that the exercise be halted.
