Cyclone Murasu disrupts flight services at four Andhra Pradesh airports

Airlines cancelled or diverted several flights on Monday due to adverse weather conditions caused by the cyclone.

Flight operations at four airports in Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada, Bhogapuram, Rajamahendravaram and Tirupati, were disrupted on Monday due to cyclone Murasu, according to reports from Deccan Chronicle and The Hindu.

At Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram, four flights were cancelled. These included IndiGo services from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada, Tirupati and Hyderabad, as well as an Air India Express flight from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada.

Vijayawada International Airport saw significant disruption with Air India cancelling 10 flights to destinations such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kurnool. Air India Express also cancelled two services, including routes between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada and Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

IndiGo cancelled multiple services at Vijayawada involving routes to Mumbai, Chennai, Tirupati, Kurnool, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. At Tirupati airport, three IndiGo flights to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru were cancelled.

At Rajamahendravaram airport, Air India cancelled all five scheduled flights for November 2 and November 3 as a precaution. These flights covered sectors including Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Fly91 continued to operate its services as scheduled at both Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram.

Airports Authority of India officials stated that airlines were informing passengers about delays, diversions and cancellations in advance. They noted that airports remained operational and no major inconvenience had been reported to passengers.
