NTR district administration on alert as Cyclone Murasu threatens Budameru catchment

District Collector G. Lakshmisha inspected Gudavalli and Enikepadu areas to prepare for potential heavy rainfall and inflows.

The NTR district administration has been placed on full alert due to the possibility of widespread heavy rainfall in the Budameru catchment areas caused by Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu, according to The Hindu.

NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha conducted field inspections of the Gudavalli and Enikepadu areas along the Budameru river on Monday to assess ground-level conditions and water flow.

During a review meeting with various departments, the Collector directed officials to remove water hyacinth and waste materials from culverts and bridges to ensure floodwater flows without obstruction.

He instructed irrigation, revenue, and municipal officials to remain alert at the field level and to keep sandbags ready near weakened or vulnerable embankments as a precaution.

The Collector appealed to residents in low-lying areas and along the Budameru catchment to stay vigilant, though he assured them that the administration is available round-the-clock to respond to emergencies.

The public has been urged to follow only official government updates and avoid social media rumours, with a control room set up at the Collectorate at 9154970454 for assistance.
