DMK seeks DVAC probe into Minister Rajmohan's bribery allegation
A complaint has been filed following School Education Minister A. Rajmohan's claim that he was offered ₹5 crore for a post.
The DMK legal wing joint secretary I. Paranathaman lodged a complaint with the Director of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Monday. The complaint seeks an FIR regarding an alleged ₹5 crore bribe offered to School Education Minister A.
Rajmohan.
According to The Hindu, the offer was reportedly made by an individual seeking the position of president of the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram. Minister Rajmohan alleged during Tamil Nadu Day celebrations on Sunday, November 1, that the offer was routed through Loyola Mani, the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation.
Mr. Paranathaman stated in his complaint that the Minister failed to report the offer to law enforcement agencies or the DVAC. He noted that the Minister only made the claim public on November 1 without naming the person who made the offer.
The complainant further alleged that since singer Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has been appointed president, both the Minister and Mr. Mani have hidden evidence of an offence. Mr.
Paranathaman claimed they are equally responsible for concealing the matter.
The complaint requests an investigation into the alleged bribe and asks for the seizure of all communications and records involving the Minister, Mr. Mani, and the person who made the offer.
