Shubman Gill conducts marathon net session at Eden Park
India captain Shubman Gill completed a three-hour training session involving batting and fielding drills in Auckland on Monday.
India captain Shubman Gill undertook an extended net session at Eden Park on Monday as part of his preparations for the upcoming series. According to The Times of India, Gill participated in a three-hour workout that included throwdowns and an extended fielding session with spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule.
Gill, who had missed the session on Sunday, focused on his workload by practicing batting and catching drills. After completing his batting, he worked on close-in and slip catching before practicing high catches near the boundary ropes.
KL Rahul was the only other designated batter to attend the nets. Rahul began by collecting throwdowns for 15 minutes before batting alongside Gill, after which the wicketkeeper-batter left the session.
Other senior players did not participate in the net practice. Virat Kohli completed a gym session at the venue before leaving, while Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad stayed indoors.
The Indian squad is expected to train together on Tuesday. The five-match series is scheduled to begin on November 4.
