Delhi implements revised GRAP rules to mitigate air pollution

New restrictions include office attendance limits, vehicle entry rules, and a doubling of parking fees across the national capital.

The Delhi government has implemented revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) rules starting November 1 to address air pollution. According to Mint, these measures include restrictions on office attendance, vehicle entry, and parking fees.

Government and private offices must limit physical attendance to 50 per cent from November 1 to January 31, with the remaining staff working from home. Essential and emergency services are exempt from this rule.

To reduce traffic congestion, Municipal Corporation of Delhi offices will operate from 8.30 am to 5 pm, while Delhi government offices will function from 10 am to 6.30 pm.

Vehicle entry into Delhi will be restricted from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Only BS-VI, CNG, and electric vehicles, along with exempted vehicles like ambulances and police vehicles, are allowed to ply.

Vehicles registered outside Delhi that meet only BS-IV or older emission standards will be prohibited. This could affect more than 10 lakh vehicles in neighbouring NCR areas including Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Additionally, parking fees at authorised lots in Delhi will double from November 1 to February 28. Parking facilities managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation are exempt from this hike.
